We run Scotch Doubles divisions all year long. One team from each division is guaranteed to go to Las Vegas!!! Here is how it works:

A division must consist of at least 8 teams, and run for 12 weeks ($20 per week).
The top 3 teams plus a wild card will make the playoffs.
The top team will play the wild card team, and the second and third place teams will play.
The winners of the semi-finals will play in the finals.
The winner of the finals gets the trip to Las Vegas.
Winning the trip to Las Vegas does not guarantee that you will be playing in the National Doubles Championship. One team in each division is guaranteed the trip, not the tournament.
All teams that win trips to Las Vegas will play in the Doubles Gold-Cup. Winners from the Gold-Cup will be entered into the National Doubles Championship. All other teams will be able to enjoy a nice vacation, and also compete in Mini-Mania.

Winners will receive one plane ticket each, plus one room.

Scotch Doubles consists of 2-player teams with a total of no more than 10 skill level points. Teams must start as a combined skill level 10. Should they go up, they will be allowed to play as an 11 or even a 12. Should they go up past 12, one player will need to be replaced in order to bring that team down to a combined 10. All teams starting a division may not have a combined skill level above 10, even if that team played in a prior session.

When it is a team's turn at the table, players on that team alternate shot until the game is over or until one of them misses.

Players must be on an active 8-ball roster in Hudson County, and have a minimum of 20 lifetime 8-ball matches in order to compete in an 8-ball doubles division. Players must be on an active 9-ball roster in Hudson County, and have a minimum of 20 lifetime 9-ball matches in order to compete in a 9-ball doubles division. Players winning the trip to Las Vegas AND who also qualify to compete in the National Doubles Championship tournament, must stay active in the APA and remain on an active team in the Summer session (in the same format that they qualified).
